There is a lot of discussion in the content marketing world today about the role and challenges posed by ChatGPT content creation and other AI content creation tools. So today, I thought I’d ask the hottest new content marketing creator on the block — ChatGPT — how do you recommend human content marketers create more compelling content than an AI content creation tool like ChatGPT?
And here is what ChatGPT had to say about it: To create content marketing that is more effective than AI-generated content marketing, humans should focus on leveraging their unique abilities. With the advent of advanced artificial content creation tools like ChatGPT, it can be a challenge for human creators to keep up and stand out. However, with the right strategies and tactics, content marketers can thrive in this new world of AI-generated content. Here are some key steps that content marketers can take to remain relevant and successful in a world dominated by content creation tools like ChatGPT.
Embrace authenticity: One of the biggest challenges faced by AI-generated content is its lack of authenticity and human touch. As a content marketer, your unique perspective and personal experiences are valuable assets that can set your content apart from the rest. Embracing your authenticity and sharing your own thoughts and experiences can help you establish a strong connection with your audience and differentiate yourself from AI-generated content.
Utilize multimedia: Text-based content can be easily generated by AI models like ChatGPT, but other forms of multimedia, such as video, audio, and images, are much harder for AI to replicate. Utilizing multimedia in your content creation can help you stand out and provide a more engaging and immersive experience for your audience.
Focus on quality: While content creation tools like ChatGPT can produce high volumes of content in a short amount of time, it often lacks the depth and nuance that human content marketers can provide. As a content marketer, use this to your advantage by focusing on creating high-quality, well-researched content that provides unique insights and information to your audience. This will not only help you stand out, but it will also help you build a loyal following that trusts and values your content.
Build a community: Build a strong community around your content. Artificial content creation tools like ChatGPT, can’t engage with a community through comments, social media, and other channels. But you can. Leverage this advantage to create a sense of belonging and establish a loyal following that values and supports your content. Additionally, hosting events, creating discussion groups, and encouraging community members to share their own content and experiences can further strengthen your community and help you stand out in a world dominated by AI-generated content.
Promote a contrarian perspective: Because AI-generated content is simply recreating existing content inputs in new forms, content creation tools like ChatGPT often produce homogenous content marketing that lacks diversity. As a content marketer, you can differentiate yourself by promoting a contrarian point of view. Just make sure it is accurate and relevant. Don’t be contrarian just to be contrarian. This not only helps you stand out in the sea of sameness, but it can also spark important conversations (that you can join via comments, social media, etc) and encourage critical thinking in your audience. Just make sure to approach the topic with accuracy and respect for differing opinions, as this will help you maintain your credibility and professionalism.
Stay up-to-date on AI advancements: As AI technology continues to evolve, it’s important for content marketers to stay informed and educated about the latest developments in the field. Do. yourself a favor and follow folks like Paul Roetzer, a real thought leader in the AI content marketing space. This can help you stay ahead of the curve and better understand how content creation tools like ChatGPT are affecting the content marketing landscape.
Collaborate with others: Collaborating with other content creators, brands, and businesses can help you expand your reach and tap into new audiences. By working together, you can create content marketing that appeals to a wider range of people and provides more value to your followers. Speaking of, if you’re interested in collaborating on agency business development, digital sales prospecting, virtual selling skills or social selling content, let’s chat.
Experiment and iterate: Finally, content marketers need to experiment and iterate. Try new formats, platforms, and approaches to see what resonates with your audience and helps you stand out in a world dominated by AI-generated content.
In conclusion, content creation in a world dominated by ChatGPT requires a combination of authenticity, quality, multimedia utilization, audience engagement, staying up-to-date, a bit of contrarianism, collaboration, and experimentation. By following these steps, content marketers can remain relevant and successful in an increasingly competitive landscape and continue to provide valuable insights and information to their followers. With the right strategies and tactics, content marketers can thrive in a world of AI-generated content and establish themselves as trusted and valued sources of information and entertainment.
The Solution to Outperforming AI Generated Content
ChatGPT completely wrote this post. I gave the platform a simple prompt:
I asked ChatGPT to rewrite the fourth bullet point — Engage Audience — to focus more on community building, to make it a bit more interesting. Then I asked ChatGPT to add a bullet point focusing on a Contrarian Perspective. Other than adding a few words and phrases here and there for SEO reasons or to make it read a tad better, what you see above is what ChatGPT’s engine thinks is the answer to out AI’ing AI content creation.
I even used the tool to help me write an SEO-optimized headline for the post. I didn’t use it exactly as ChatGPT suggested because it was way too long. But I was able to make a few simple changes to arrive at the headline used in this post.
I even used the tool to generate multiple potential social media post headlines to make the piece sound more professional, contrarian, interesting, etc., to create better clickbait headlines, which I’m not good at writing myself.
At the end of the blog post, the truth is, ChatGPT knows precisely how we humans can create content that outperforms AI-generated content. You can just scroll back up to see for yourself. It’s simple.
Be HUMAN.
Humans want interesting, insightful, thought-provoking, contrarian, humorous, empathetic, and helpful content that sparks ideas, conversations, or approaches they’ve never considered. Create content that accomplishes that; you’ll never worry about outperforming AI-generated content again.
